Leon Wieseltier, the keynote speaker, has served as the literary editor of The New Republic since 1983. He is a nationally renowned public intellectual and author of several books, including Kaddish and Against Identity (1996), an collection of essays on the modern notions of identity. Wieseltier also edited and introduced a volume of works by Lionel Trilling entitled The Moral Obligation to Be Intelligent (2000).
The afternoon will include two sessions of workshops led by some of the Bay Area’s experts on the topic and will conclude with a panel discussion on anti-Semitism today and the Jewish community responses.
The cost is $15 in advance and $25 at the door. The conference is free to students with ID.
