Lehrhaus offered a half-day symposium titled The Refugee: Fleeing Oppression From the Exodus to Modern Times November 13, 2016. The symposium took place a few days after the election and since then the refugee issue has become even more urgent and salient. Lehrhaus supports JCRC’s statement released Jan. 31 in response to recent executive orders targeting refugees and citizens from seven Muslim-majority nations. Lehrhaus is a community partner for the Jewish Community Forum on March 19 at the Jewish Community High School of the Bay.

About the Jewish Community Forum
The current political environment has profound implications for the policy priorities of our Bay Area Jewish community. In its role as a community convener and champion of democratic values, JCRC – in partnership with the Jewish Community Federation & Endowment Fund and Jewish Community High School of the Bay – is bringing together community leaders, policy experts, political pollsters, academics and journalists for a full-day of education and training. This Jewish Community Forum is intended to provide community members with an opportunity to learn effective strategies for advocacy and the powers of government in our participatory democracy. Attendees will leave empowered with the information, ideas and training needed to engage in civic affairs at the federal, state and municipal levels.
