On Sunday, December 14, 2008 Bible by the Bay comes to Sonoma County for the first time, taking place at Congregation Shomrei Torah from 1-5pm. Our Keynote Speaker in Sonoma will be Professor Rachel Adler, author of the "The Jew Who Wasn't There" (PDF). She will be speaking on Love, Loyalty and Lotahing: Biblical Unions through the Lens of Gender.
This year at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, Bible by the Bay will welcome writer Nathan Englander, author of the international best-selling For the Relief of Unbearable Urges and The Ministry of Special Cases.
This December at Congregation Shomrei Torah come hear keynote speaker Professor Rachel Adler, auther of Engendering Judaism: An Inclusig Thology and Ethics, speak. Her topic is Love, Loyalty andLoathing: Biblical Unions Through the Lens of Gender, and will examine the cultural expectations of gender and how they affect the relationships of biblical husbands and wives. Following the keynote will be a variety of workshops on biblical themes led by prominent Bay Area scholars, clergy and Lehrhaus Judaica's masters teachers.
