This April, travel in Argentina and Uruguay with Ariel Goldstein, a veteran tour guide who was born and raised in that region, and Fred Rosenbaum, an award-winning scholar of contemporary Jewish communities.
Buenos Aires, the “Paris of the South,” boasts trendy cafés, glamorous inhabitants and elegant boulevards. Visit the imposing el Obelisco; the colorful immigrant neighborhood of La Boca; San Telmo, home to a lively antiques fair; the Recoleta cemetery, where Evita Peron is buried; and the newly reconstructed Teatro Colón, one of the world’s top opera houses.
The Jewish community, one of the largest in the world, has been an integral part of Buenos Aires for more than a century. Learn of their triumphs and tragedies and participate in a Shabbat service and dinner with local Jews.
There will be an optional tour of Argentina’s wine country – Mendoza – April 1-4.
